We were asked to take a modest three-bedroom house on a highly sought-after private avenue and transform it into something extraordinary. The client didn't want to tear it down, but use what's there as best we could.
What emerged is a sprawling family home that pushes every boundary of what's possible on an executive estate plot. Six bedrooms—with an enormous loft conversion capable of housing five more if you're planning a dynasty. A games room, bar, cinema room, home gym, safe room, and a rooftop terrace accessed via a striking spiral staircase that rises through the open-plan dining space like a sculptural centrepiece.
Oh, and there's a spice kitchen, butler's pantry, and outdoor kitchen for when the main kitchen just isn't enough.

This isn't contemporary minimalism. It's design language that's unashamedly traditional—rich wood panelling, crisp render, and ornate stone detailing that nods to classic English architecture. The kind of details that age gracefully rather than date quickly.
The gallery landing connects everything with a sense of grandeur, while the open-plan diner flows to that spiral staircase and rooftop terrace beyond. It's formal where it needs to be, relaxed where it counts, and impressive throughout.
The outdoor kitchen extends the entertaining space into the garden, while the fully-equipped home office ensures working from home feels less like a compromise and more like a privilege.
Getting a house this substantial in a built-up suburb through planning required proving that the scale works for the site, the neighbours aren't adversely affected, and the design enhances rather than dominates the street scene. Planning permission secured—because when you get the details right, how can councils say no?
Result: A modest family home transformed into something genuinely exceptional, proving that with the right design approach, you don't need to move to get the house you really want.
