There's a new face in the Lichfield studio.
Olivia Hunt joins us as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. She graduated from Nottingham Trent University, spent a year practising architecture in the United States, and has now made her way back to the Midlands. Which is either a vote of confidence in the region or a sign that American winters are worse than advertised. Possibly both.
NTU is a fantastic architecture school — practical, delivery-focused, and not shy about preparing graduates for the real world. Olivia came out of it with a good foundation and then, rather than heading straight into a practice close to home, went to work in the United States for a year.
That's worth noting — not because going abroad is inherently impressive, but because practising architecture in a different country means navigating unfamiliar rules, working with people you don't know, and generally having to figure things out without a familiar safety net. She comes to us with a broader frame of reference than most Part 1 graduates, and a decent answer to 'so what did you do after university?'
Olivia will be based in our Lichfield studio, working on early design concepts for residential projects.
Early-stage residential design is where a lot of the decisions that matter get made — before the spreadsheets arrive and everyone starts talking about value engineering. It's a good place to develop an eye for what works, and Olivia has one. She's a sharp, creative designer who, handily, also knows how to listen to a brief before she starts drawing. That combination is less common than it should be.
Outside of work, Olivia hikes, kayaks, and competes in boomerang throwing. We have questions but we're pacing ourselves.
We're glad to have you in the Lichfield studio. It's a good team, the projects are interesting, and you'll fit in well.
And if you're working on a residential project in Lichfield or nearby, you now know there's a new person worth speaking to — alongside the rest of the team.
