The Forest: External Works Underway

Back to Articles

Internal works are now well underway at The Forest, with metal stud framing going up and concrete floors being ground and levelled across the building.

Metal stud partitions are being used here for straightforward, practical reasons. They go up quickly, they’re accurate, and they allow layouts to be set out with tight tolerances. For developer-led projects, that matters. Faster installation helps maintain programme certainty, lightweight construction keeps loads down, and the system allows adjustments to be made later without major disruption.

At the same time, existing concrete floors are being ground and levelled ahead of final finishes. Getting levels right at this stage avoids issues later with thresholds, floor finishes and door tolerances — the kind of problems that cost time and money if they’re left too late in the programme.

This phase of the build isn’t about how things look. It’s about getting the fundamentals right so everything that follows fits properly, installs cleanly and progresses without unnecessary friction.

It’s not the most photogenic stage of the project, but it’s one of the most important. Quiet, methodical progress now reduces risk later — exactly what developers want from this point in the build.

More updates to follow as works continue.
