In the often complex world of green belt development, JSA Architects have designed and secured full planning permission for a new family home that replaces a modest bungalow. The new dwelling respects its green belt setting while meeting the needs of a contemporary family.

We employed a strategic planning approach. Recognizing the limitations and possibilities within the green belt, we presented a ‘fallback position’ using permitted development rights. This wasn’t just about complying with policy; it was about demonstrating the potential impact of unguided development versus the benefits of thoughtful, professional design.

The result is a home that respects its roots yet embraces modernity. We’ve crafted a space that is traditional in its overall form, acknowledging the heritage and character of its green belt location. Yet, it’s the contemporary details that give this home its unique personality – a testament to our commitment to innovative design that doesn’t lose sight of context and history.

Working in conjunction with local consultants, Planning Design, JSA prepared visual impact studies, design statements, permitted development analysis and detailed design drawings to support a planning application and subsequent appeal. The result was approval at appeal and some very happy clients.

We’re now in the process of preparing full technical and tender documentation, with a view to breaking ground in Summer 2024.
